Munira Shonibare has over 40 years experience in Interior Design. She is the CEO and founder of IO Furniture, its retail line PIQIT by IO Furniture and is also a Director and co-founder of Ethniki, an affiliate to IO Furniture.
She founded Interior Options in 1987, rebranding the company as I.O. Furniture in 2008 as the company expanded its services beyond interior design to include furniture manufacturing. In 2002, she co-founded a spin-off company from IO Furniture Ltd called Ethniki to pursue a line of African inspired furniture and accessories, design, production, and trading. The Ethniki range also promotes ethnic culture, local artisans, and arts and crafts, celebrating the rich and vibrant African lifestyle.
In 2020, she launched a retail line called PIQIT by IO, a subsidiary of IO Furniture, that provides a retail lifestyle concept range of furniture and accessories. The name ‘PIQIT’ is an acronym for the values of IO Furniture (Proactivity, Integrity, Quality, Innovation and TeamWork).
Munira has successfully executed numerous high profile projects, including the renovation of several prestigious hotels and corporate buildings. Notable projects include the renovation of the 5-star Hilton Hotel in Abuja in 2007, The Wheatbaker Hotel in 2011, the Federal Judicial Service Commission in Abuja, and Asset and Resource Management Co. Other significant projects are the Four Points by Sheraton in Lagos in 2015, the Cummins Head Office in 2019, The Bon Saffron Hotel in Lagos in 2021, the Abuja Continental Hotel (formerly Sheraton) in 2022, and The Metropolitan Club Lagos in 2023. Munira also managed the design and furnishing of three Lotus Capital Bank branches from 2022 to 2024, The Things Remembered Lounge at the new international airport in 2023 and the design and installation of cladding throughout the National Theatre in 2024. She is the founding president of the Interior Designers Association of Nigeria affiliated to the International Federation of Interior Designers and Architects.
Munira holds a degree in Industrial Design from Ahmadu Bello University, and a postgraduate diploma in Interior Design from the Instituto del Arte il restauro in Florence, Italy.
Alessandro Cucchiaro is the Head of Production and Installations at IO Furniture Ltd., bringing over four decades of craftsmanship, technical expertise, and leadership to the company’s operations.
He joined IO Furniture in September 2009 as an Installation Supervisor, overseeing key installation projects in Abuja, Nigeria. In 2010, he was promoted to Production Supervisor/Installation Coordinator, and by 2012, he expanded his responsibilities to include Operations Coordination, supporting the General Manager in managing company-wide operations. In 2016, Alessandro advanced to his current role, combining operations oversight with leadership of the production and installation teams.
A master carpenter by training, Alessandro is highly skilled in woodworking, manual sketching, technical drawing, furniture installation, and the sourcing of machinery both locally and internationally. He is known for his meticulous attention to detail, a passion for quality, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Alessandro began his career in Italy, earning his professional carpentry certification from IAL in 1981. He spent 13 years at Pilligini Furniture Company, Italy, working across various departments to hone his craft. In 1994, he joined Zanier Serramenti Raveo, a specialist in doors and shutters, where he supervised installation projects. He later moved to Mazzolini Serramenti, Italy, managing the carpentry department and leading the installation of kitchens and custom furniture.
In 2000, Alessandro founded La Bottega del Falegname (“The Carpenter’s Workshop”)—a boutique furniture company focused on the design, production, and sale of custom-made pieces. After nearly a decade running the business, he joined SNAIDERO, a renowned Italian kitchen manufacturer, in 2008. There, he was responsible for kitchen research and development, and led installations at international trade fairs.
Since joining IO Furniture, Alessandro has played a key role in transforming the company’s production and installation operations. He remains deeply involved in every stage of the production process, ensuring that each project meets the highest standards of craftsmanship and efficiency.
Abidemi Olubukola is a seasoned executive and strategic leader with 15 years of experience across the financial, service, and manufacturing sectors. As Chief Operating Officer of IO Furniture Limited, she leverages her transformative leadership approach and expertise in strategic human capital development to drive business growth and excellence.
Abidemi’s career journey includes 7 years at MTN Nigeria, where she delivered exceptional results in customer relationship and human resources management. After leaving MTN, she further honed her skills as the Head of Human Resources at an SME, successfully implementing strategic HR initiatives that drove business growth. In 2020, she joined IO Furniture Limited as the Head of Human Resources, where she played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s human capital strategy.
As Chief Operating Officer, Abidemi’s strategic vision and leadership have been instrumental in driving IO Furniture Limited’s success. She excels in end-to-end human resource management, talent acquisition, development, and retention, ensuring the company’s workforce is equipped to achieve its business objectives. Abimbola led the development of the PIQIT brand from the ground up, overseeing its branding, merchandising strategy, and the rollout of both the physical retail experience and the e-commerce platform. Today, she leads the team responsible for all merchandising and sales activities for PIQIT, as well as the planning and execution of digital and traditional marketing campaigns across both IO Furniture and PIQIT.
Before IO Furniture, Abimbola spent over eight years at McKinsey & Company, one of the world’s leading consulting firms. She began her career there as a recruitment specialist, managing end-to-end hiring processes and recruitment strategies for the Lagos office. Her creativity and drive led to the launch of several initiatives that continue to be used globally within the firm. She received multiple innovation awards for her contributions, selected from submissions across McKinsey offices worldwide.
Later, she transitioned into the Communications department, where she focused on building the firm’s brand across Emerging Markets. In this role, she led the setup of McKinsey Africa’s social media presence and was instrumental in the development of the McKinsey Lagos website. She also created content strategies for African markets, aligning with global communications objectives. In 2018, she was seconded to McKinsey’s London office, where she led communications and marketing strategy for a major annual Emerging Markets event.
Abimbola holds a degree in Economics and Sociology from the University of Kent, Canterbury.
Gbenga is a distinguished Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) and esteemed member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. With over a decade of experience in Financial Management and Manufacturing Accounting, he has developed a strong expertise in the manufacturing sector, particularly in the foam, shoe, and furniture industries.
Gbenga’s career commenced in 2011 with Vitafoam Nigeria PLC, a leading foam manufacturing company, where he progressed from Account Reconciliation Officer to Factory Accountant. His exceptional skills and dedication led to his transfer to Vitafoam’s largest manufacturing plant in Jos, Plateau State. He subsequently headed the Finance Department at Vitafoam’s subsidiaries, Vita Green Limited in Kano and Vono Furniture Products Limited.
At Vono Furniture Products Limited, Gbenga’s involvement in the furniture manufacturing and design sector began. He currently serves as the Head of the Finance Department at IO Furniture Limited, a position he has held since January 2022. In this role, he has consistently demonstrated expertise in managing financial operations, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Gbenga provides strategic financial guidance to the senior management team and collaborates with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
He holds a degree in Banking and Finance from the College of Technology, Esa-Oke, Osun State, Nigeria. Outside of his professional pursuits, Gbenga is a devoted family man.

Mojisola is currently the Head of Commercial at IO Furniture Ltd. She joined IO Furniture Ltd in 2004 as a receptionist/intern before transitioning to the Customer Service department where she has been instrumental to the growth and development of the team.
With over 15years work experience in customer service and sales, she is responsible for securing and executing major projects, managing high profile customer relationships and identifying new clients for projects.
Moji has a Bsc in Banking and Finance from Lagos State University, and a National Diploma in Insurance from the Polytechnic, Ibadan. She’s also an alumnus of Lagos Business School.
