In undertaking the design and execution of the Things Remembered group’s lounge at the New Airport Terminal, our primary objectives were centred around comfort, privacy, and optimal flow within the space. A crucial consideration was the functional sectioning of the lounge to cater to diverse needs. The endeavour commenced with the establishment of a captivating welcome area, setting the tone for a distinctive passenger experience.
A standout feature of this project was the implementation of exceptional cladding on the walls, seamlessly blending with the slats adorning the buffet counters. The challenge lay in creating a buffet area that seamlessly integrated into the main lounge, ensuring efficient circulation without compromising on the overall design cohesion. The solution involved incorporating the same slats found in other sections, coupled with the addition of marble countertops for a refined finish. The result is a buffet space that subtly coexists within the lounge, distinguished only by the enticing aroma of the cuisine it offers.
The diversity of seating arrangements was a paramount consideration in enhancing the passenger experience. Various seating zones were strategically crafted to provide passengers with options that ranged from intimate privacy to conducive spaces for work. The meticulous design also incorporated a dedicated station for breastfeeding mothers, emphasising inclusivity and thoughtful consideration for all travellers.
What sets this lounge apart is its multifaceted approach to passenger needs, ensuring a seamless blend of functionality and aesthetics. The careful balance of elements creates an environment that is not only visually appealing but also purposefully designed to meet the diverse requirements of travellers. The result is a lounge that transcends the conventional, standing out as truly exceptional and one of a kind in its capacity to cater to the varied preferences and needs of airport visitors.
